Hello. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Laura Gillis, and I’m a realtor serving the Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Stoney Creek, St. Catharines, Hamilton and Burlington areas. My business motto is simple: I’m service and results-driven, but what does that really mean?
It means that I’m truly dedicated to bringing you the best possible service and the best possible results, whether you’re buying, selling, or just have real estate questions.
How do I do that?
It’s built on my past. For more than 15 years, I worked in a management role in the hospitality industry, and it’s there that I learned a lot of the basic principles that I’ve carried over to my real estate career, like providing exceptional service and working to exceed my client’s expectations. Whether you’re serving coffee or selling homes , the commitment to service is the key. While those may seem like characteristics that most realtors may say they offer, my background helped me to ensure that they weren’t just things I said; they’re things that are ingrained in everything that I do and hold a solid foundation in my way of thinking.
While I was working in the hospitality industry, I always considered myself to be entrepreneurial by nature, so when I was making a career change, real estate seemed like the perfect fit for me. It allowed me to focus on building a business as well as a little flexibility in my schedule so that I could spend more time with my children when they were young (Hi Hailey and Griffin!).
While my background in the hospitality industry allowed me to build on my established service skills, my degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson University) allowed me to utilize my business background. For me, the two went hand-in-hand nicely.
The Niagara region, specifically Grimsby, is my home. I absolutely love the lifestyle that living here provides, and I’m proud to tell people all about the area and what makes it such a great place to live (sometimes even when they don’t ask). But that also means that I’m familiar with not only the great features of the area itself, but also the local real estate market. I don’t just work in Grimsby though; to provide the best and most well-rounded experience I can, I help my clients buy and sell real estate from Lincoln, West Lincoln, St. Catharines to Hamilton and Burlington and anywhere in between.
But I haven’t been able to get here completely alone. I have two big supporters that have helped me get where I am: my real-estate savvy husband Blair, and my brokerage: Royal LePage State. I’ve been with Royal LePage State for over twenty years, and for me, and my business, they’ve been a fantastic addition, serving as an extension of my beliefs.
